1: Aren't those just cookies that you can remove? Regardless of OS, if you visit a site that has those ads, you will get the cookie.

'if you visit a site...you will get the cookie'
nuh uh, if you run FFox with NoScript, you get the choice of which cookies to accept, i only accept session cookies from the domain of the site i visit, and never accept trackers from doubleclick etc, they are an intrusion and a nuisance they clog your bandwidth, and report information about what websites you visit and what you do at those websites.
why have them onboard, and why vista have any right to deposit them in your pc Webtrends, another microsoft favorite, that is planted on your pc from their Windows update site.

5: NoScript doesn't block cookies. I recommend using CS Lite if you want similar domain-level control over your cookies.

Here trev, it's an oreo.

I have noticed no difference installing SP1 - same crappy performance. And as others have already said, the spyware is from browsing other sites.

If you like to predominately run freeware, then I highly suggest to get out of Vista and run, run like the wind.

It is all about security and being in control, and I know that is not how most of you roll.
